| NSE3128GLM
The NSE3128GLM is a network search engine (NSE) device ideally suited for enabling policy enforcement and packet classification in edge, campus and enterprise networking applications. The device database may be organized as 64K x 64, 32K x 128 or 16K x 256. The NSE3128GLM performs high-speed parallel search operations on logical tables. Other applications for the device are as an address filter or an address translator for Ethernet and ATM switches and Layer 3 and higher routing applications. The NSE3128GLM has a mask word associated with every network search engine word. The user is able to mask entries on a bit-by-bit basis (granularity of 1 bit). The NSE3128GLM can perform aging on up to 64K entries in the database. When instructed, the NSE3128GLM can automatically set the aging bit when a match is found, if a match is not found the NSE3128GLM returns a ‘no match’ flag which can then be used to initiate the learn procedure. The NSE3128GLM can support traffic shaping by performing regulation of the average and burst data rates of data transmission. The traffic policing within the device is based on the token bucket algorithm. For each token bucket (up to 512 are supported), a mix of metering rates may be applied by the application. Features
